SMM at Kovcheg
Our shelter «Kovcheg» is the home for animals located near the shore of the Black Sea!
The number of our residents is increasing every day, currently, we have 700+ dogs and 100+ cats!
We never pass by animals in need of help. However, at the moment, we are not accepting new animals as the shelter is overcrowded. We have many elderly dogs and cats, many dogs recovering from car accidents, and some of them requiring special care for the rest of their days.
The "Kovcheg" was established by the NGO 'Animal Protection League' in 2001 in Odessa by Svitlana Himchenko.
For 7 years, the "Kovcheg" has been providing emergency veterinary care. We sterilize the animals that the volunteers take care free of charge.We sterilize the animals that the volonteers taking care for free of charge. We do not receive any assistance from the city; we rely on financial aid and support from caring individuals.

Each wagging tail is like a little child to us, to whom we dedicate attention and warmth every day. We feed, heal, nurture, and of course, seek a loving family for them!
The shelter remains private and has not obtained municipal status. It is funded and maintained by the Khimchenko family and donations from citizents of Odesa, our friends, caring individuals, and charitable foundations.
At the beginning of the war, we received assistance from Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Moldova. Currently, the aid has been stopped, and only our close and faithful friends remain with us.
